About the Owner:

I am a full-time mom with my own photography business. I have always been an animal lover, and have rescued MANY animals from unfortunate situations. We regularly contribute to the animal shelters in an effort to help each one find their fur-ever home. I have two dogs that love everyone (and everyone loves them,) as well as some outdoor waterfowl. We live on just over 2 acres of land and enjoy spending time outside! We currently have a portion of the yard fenced in, and plan to have the entire perimeter fenced by the end of 2024. We have a beautiful pool available to our furry guests! I have been training dogs and horses for over 15 years, and after becoming a stay-at-home mom in 2020 I have decided to try to give back to those in need. I absolutely love animals and take every opportunity to help another family in need. When I managed full time in hospitality, I found the most difficult task was finding a GREAT caretaker for our extended furry family. I would be honored to give you peace of mind by loving your babies while you take time for yourself! We have a calm environment with lots of room to play and have fun. I send photo and video updates and even do a professional mini photo session (for a small added fee!) No secrets here, stop by any time and know that your family is safe and always welcome!

FAQs

How can I trust you? What safety do you offer?

When I have your pets in my home I to mimic your routines, this will contribute to them being as comfortable as possible. They will be fed when you feed them, always separately and not visible to any other dogs. If you don’t allow them in bed or on furniture then we will honor that as well! We want them to be as comfortable as possible by making things in our control as similar to home as we can. I have worked with dogs for over 20 years, you can trust that your furry family is in safe hands with us!

Do you crate the dogs?

At Fur Haven Retreat, we pride ourselves on providing a crate-free and kennel-free environment for our guests. The only time we offer crating is when specifically requested by the pet owner, such as during our absence or at bedtime. Puppies who are in the process of learning to "hold it" may benefit from being crated, but this is only done with the owner's consent.

What do you need to know about my pet?

It’s very important for me to be aware of any particularly troublesome behaviors in advance, such as incontinence, sensitive stomach, skin allergies, food aggression, etc.

We are a pretty easy-going family and we love giving love, but we also care about everyone’s safety and want your pup to be as comfortable as possible. Anything I would need to know that could help them be more comfortable and relaxed would be beneficial to their experience.

What if my pet has special needs?

We understand the importance of catering to animals with special needs. With years of experience owning deaf and blind dogs, we are well-equipped to provide the care and attention your pets require. We are trained to administer medicine and insulin, ensuring your furry friends are in good hands. Whether you have a playful puppy or a wise senior dog, trust us to provide the love and support they deserve.

What is a typical day at the retreat?

Our typical day is always based on your dog! To ensure they feel safe and most comfortable, I will tailor our daily activities to them. There are plenty of nature trails, or we could walk through the neighborhood. We can run in the oversized yard, or go swimming! We can go for a car ride and even visit the beach! Our neighborhood kids regularly come to play with our pups and love meeting our newest (temporary) furry additions to the family. I have an abundance of toys and the entire family enjoys having cuddle sessions.

Can I use a credit card?

We accept all types of payments, including credit cards. Because we believe in making your experience as seamless as possible, we offer various payment options to cater to your needs. Leave your worries behind and trust us to take care of your furry friends while you're away.
